Stephen Persson

Stephen is a specialist gastroenterologist with over 25 years experience. He has an excellent local knowledge having lived in Auckland most of his life and attended medical school there. He undertook advanced training in gastroenterology at Auckland City Hospital, Middlemore Hospital and Middlesex Hospital/University College Hospitals, London.

He returned from a postgraduate fellowship in interventional endoscopy & ERCP from one of the premier endoscopy suites in London in 1998 to take up a consultant gastroenterology post at Middlemore Hospital. He also consults at Eastcare Specialist Centre and Pukekohe Family Health Care. He consults on the full spectrum of gastroenterological disorders and assesses many patients with functional bowel disorders, hepatobiliary & pancreatic disorders, motility disorders, coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease and gastrointestinal malignancies.
